Old problems. New solutions. Big impact.

Collaborate for Social Impact (C4SI) is an experiential education program that challenges students and young professionals to engage innovatively with pressing social issues. We aim to bring together individuals from a diversity of disciplines, including business, technology, international affairs, and international development, to collaborate in response to real world problems.

We adopt a learn-by-doing approach. Over a one to two-month period, participants attend workshops delivered by experts and receive the support of experienced mentors to co-create social innovations in response to global and local social problems identified by our challenge setters.

The program begins with our Kick-Off event, in which participants are introduced to C4SI and form teams around a number of challenges identified by leading international affairs and development organizations, private companies and NGOs.

After the Kick-Off, participants attend workshops focused on developing their skills and know-how concerning the process of social innovation. Teams work to develop innovative solutions to their respective challenges, with the support of mentors for advice and feedback.

The program culminates on Demo Day. The teams will get the chance to present their innovations to the challenge setters, mentors, other teams, C4SI alumnae/alumni, and a panel of judges.

Participants are motivated students and young professionals based in Switzerland from any discipline, ranging from business and technology to international affairs and development, with an interest in social innovation.

Challenge setters are international affairs and development organizations, private companies and NGOs. They provide concrete challenges based on issues they have identified in their respective fields, which will be presented to participants at the Kick-Off event. Challenge setters should be willing to be contacted by participating teams with questions or clarifications on the challenge they have identified.

Workshop leaders are skilled and experienced professionals in a particular field that are willing to share their knowledge and passion with our participants through interactive workshops to introduce specific tools that will be used by the teams to tackle one aspect of their challenges.

Mentors are either academic or professional experts, or experienced entrepreneurs who are willing to make themselves available for the duration of the program. Mentors are expected to be a source of advice and support to participating teams as they develop their innovations.
